1. Analysis of Zinc Ore and Concentrate Imports and Exports
According to data from Chinese Customs:  
In January 2025, China imported 396,800 tons of zinc concentrate, a decrease of 13% month-on-month (MoM) but an increase of 0.23% year-on-year (YoY). In terms of importing countries, the majority of imports came from Australia, totaling 124,100 tons, up 6.9% MoM and 25.3% YoY. Imports from Peru ranked second, reaching 69,400 tons, up 26.6% MoM but down 38.81% YoY. Additionally, imports from Kazakhstan amounted to 37,500 tons, up 48.2% MoM and 50.4% YoY.  

In February 2025, China imported approximately 490,000 tons of zinc ore and concentrate, an increase of 65,000 tons (+16.3%) MoM and 210,200 tons (+83.7%) YoY. The cumulative import volume for January-February 2025 was 858,300 tons, an increase of 211,200 tons (+32.6%) YoY. The significant increase in February imports compared to the same period last year was mainly due to market expectations of rising zinc concentrate processing fees starting from December 2024, coupled with favorable import ratios, prompting importers to accelerate zinc concentrate imports. In terms of importing countries, the majority of February imports came from Peru, totaling 106,300 tons, up 53.12% MoM and 68% YoY. Imports from Australia ranked second, reaching 97,000 tons, down 21.5% MoM but up 43.8% YoY. Additionally, imports from Mexico saw a substantial increase, with customs statistics showing 31,400 tons, up 351% MoM and 788% YoY.  

2. Analysis of Zinc Dust and Flake Powder Imports and Exports
In January 2025, China's zinc dust imports amounted to 130.161 tons, an increase of 118.97% YoY. The total import volume for January 2025 was 130.161 tons, with a cumulative increase of 118.97% YoY. The main sources of zinc dust imports in January 2025 were the United States, Switzerland, and Japan.  

In January 2025, China's zinc dust exports amounted to 287.1 tons, an increase of 22.93% YoY. The total export volume for January 2025 was 287.1 tons, with a cumulative increase of 22.93% YoY. The main export destinations for zinc dust in January 2025 were Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan, China.  

In February 2025, China's zinc dust imports amounted to 218.495 tons, an increase of 142.11% YoY. The cumulative import volume for January-February 2025 was 348.656 tons, with a cumulative increase of 132.92% YoY. The main sources of zinc dust imports in February 2025 were the United States, Taiwan, China, and Belgium.  

In February 2025, China's zinc dust exports amounted to 147.494 tons, a decrease of 48.57% YoY. The cumulative export volume for January-February 2025 was 434.594 tons, with a cumulative decrease of 16.48% YoY. The main export destinations for zinc dust in February 2025 were Vietnam, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong, China.
